Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using the Ligoscope app ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Ligoscope. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that any information you provide is accurate.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree not to share your login credentials with others or use another person's account without permission.

You may sign in using an email/password or with a third-party provider (Apple or Google). You are responsible for keeping the email address on your account up to date, since it is used for account recovery and important notices.

4. User content and conduct

You retain ownership of the content you create on Ligoscope (reviews, diary logs, lists, comments, photos, and your profile information — "User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant Ligoscope a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, and display that content within the app and on associated public web pages, according to the visibility setting you chose for it.

You agree that you will not post or share User Content that:

• Is unlawful, harassing, threatening, hateful, or defamatory
• Is sexually explicit, or sexualizes minors in any way
• Infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights
• Is spam, deceptive, or impersonates another person or entity
• Contains malware or attempts to disrupt the Service

You also agree not to: attempt unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts; harass, bully, or stalk other users; collect other users' data without consent; or reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app.

5. Content moderation and enforcement

To keep Ligoscope safe, reviews, comments, diary entries, profile bios, and lists are checked by an automated moderation system before they are published, and may be rejected if they appear to violate section 4. We also provide in-app tools to block or mute other users, and to report content or accounts that you believe violate these Terms — go to any profile, review, or comment and use the "Report" option.

We may review reported content, remove content, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion and without prior notice, particularly in cases of harassment, hate speech, or illegal content.

6. AI-powered features

Ligoscope includes features powered by artificial intelligence — including content moderation, personalized recommendations, taste-compatibility scoring, and optional writing-assistance tools (e.g. caption or phrasing suggestions). These features process your content and activity as described in our Privacy Policy. AI-generated suggestions (such as a rewritten review draft or a caption) are always shown to you for review and require your explicit action to use — Ligoscope does not publish AI-generated content on your behalf without your action.

AI features are provided "as is" and may occasionally produce an inaccurate recommendation, an incorrect taste match, or fail to detect content that violates our guidelines (or, conversely, flag content that does not). We continuously work to improve their accuracy but do not guarantee perfect results.

7. Intellectual property

The Ligoscope name, logo, app design, and original editorial content are owned by Ligoscope and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Film and series metadata, posters, and related data are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB) under their terms of use and are not owned by Ligoscope. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Film and series data sourced from TMDB may occasionally contain inaccuracies that are outside our control.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ligoscope and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

10. Account termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete my account, which permanently removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with or without notice, depending on the severity of the violation.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the operator's place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time, for example as we add new features. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be communicated via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
